London Glassblowing

London Glassblowing

Showcasing the best talent from the UK and beyond...

Founded by Peter Layton in 1976, London Glassblowing is one of the leading glass galleries and studios in Europe.

Visitors are welcome to view pieces by the UK’s finest Studio Glass artists, and also watch them practise their magical craft in the hot-glass studio. To the beat of a roaring furnace they transform molten glass into exotic shapes and vibrant colours of their imagination.   It seems hardly possible that these glowing orbs can be related to the cool, polished treasures on display in the adjoining gallery.

About Peter Layton:
Peter has always taken inspiration from his environment, natural or manmade; a dry-stone wall on a snowy day, the London skyline, or great paintings.   From a mere detail, a flash of Klimt orange, a Hockney landscape, a slick of oil on the Thames, he creates painterly works with a masterly use of colour in free blown glass. His work is in high demand and is to be found in public and private collections throughout the world.

The Gallery is currently open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 5pm. On display you will find sculptural and decorative glass art as well as the ideal present for yourself or your loved ones.
